BREASTFEEDING WEEK 2021 – DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL NUTRITION & DIETETICS

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is celebrated every year from 1-7 August.

The theme for the year 2021 was -Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility.

It is time to inform, anchor, engage and galvanise action to protect breastfeeding at all levels.

Maternity Protection is the key to enable breastfeeding and empower parents for successful implementation of recommended breastfeeding practices.

A brief talk was held in the Gynaec ward. All Expectant and nursing mothers (lactating) were explained about :-

The importance of breastfeeding,
The benefits of breastfeeding – to the mother & child,
Importance of exclusively breastfeeding the child.
Initiation of complementary feeds after 6 months of age with continued breastfeeding till 2years of age.
Dietary habits to inculcate for better lactation. Galactogogues to incorporate in the diet for better breast milk production.

Also few healthy recipes were displayed for pregnant & lactating mothers.
