Radio Diagnosis

Overview
The Department of Radio-diagnosis & Imaging is one of the most technologically advanced Departments in the Holy Spirit Hospital, having state of the art, latest Medical Imaging Equipments managed by a team of Senior Radiology Consultants with more than 20 years of experience in Clinical Radiology. The senior Consultants are supported by Clinical Associates and team of Resident Doctors providing round the clock support to the hospital. No additional “emergency” charges are levied in the Imaging Dept.
The Department is situated on the ground floor in the Diagnostic Centre of the Hospital; spread-out over 10,000 square feet space; and is well manned by a large team of experienced & skilled Radiographers, Nursing Staff, support staff and front desk office assistants. Together providing a strong foundation for excellent care at the hands of our specialists & staff.
We have FFD Digital radiography units and IITV for all our routine radiography and special procedures. These include hysterosalpingography, barium (GI) & urographic studies. Scanograms are routinely performed.
At HSH we have a state-of-the-art Tomosynthesis Unit of FUJIFILM (3D mammography) to help diagnose early breast cancers. This provides impressive 1 mm thin sections of the breast with associated low radiation doses.

Special instructions for patients :
- Kindly bring your referring physician’s reference papers; as well as all prior medical papers and investigations.
- Each examination has its own preparation. You shall be informed as you take an appointment.
- Abdominal USG necessitates 4-6 hour fasting. Obstetric, pelvic & abdomino-pelvic USG require a full bladder. Small part, Musculo-skeletal & vascular studies do not require any special preparation.
- For women coming for obstetric USG, please carry all your earlier USG reports.
- Serum creatinine levels are necessary whenever a CT or MRI contrast study is to be performed; as well as detailed history of any prior contrast reaction, food or drug allergies.
- We try our best to accommodate you within the time specified. However, being a tertiary care hospital, there maybe some delay. Usually due to critically ill patients from ER or even our ICCU.
Infrastructure and Technology
We are in the process of acquiring the latest generation of advanced AI enabled Sonography unit – Samsung HERA Z20+. This will not only improve image resolution; also faster image acquisition & analysis; hence cutting down scan times. Three top of the line High Resolution Songraphy-Colour Doppler units – which are able to perform all ultrasound & colour doppler studies; routine examinations, obstetric & gynaecological, small parts, musculo-skeletal and all peripheral vascular (colour doppler) studies. 3D & 4D studies are undertaken, whenever required. Breast & liver Elastography (ARFI) can be easily performed.
Our latest installation is the newest version of Seimens Somatom.go-Top – 128-slice CT-scanner. This has cut down scan time, radiation dose & contrast volumes of all CT studies. Routine, Virtual-Scopies, Perfusion studies, multi-phase dynamic liver analysis, Whole body angiogram & venogram studies and Coronary CT-Angio studies are done.
Strong stroke protocol has been set up – this includes Neurovascular CT & MRI studies; with resultant early detection & successful treatment outcomes. Excellent door to needle times have been achieved upto less than an hour.
The 1.5T MRI performs all routine applications as well as specialised studies; including imaging in stroke, epilepsy & dementia protocols, Tumour Imaging with spectroscopy & perfusion, Multi-Parametric Prostate imaging, MR-defeacography, Dynamic TMJ evaluation, CSF flowmetry, Dynamic liver, pituitary & pelvic imaging. As well as non-contrast angiograms of whole body with ASL (arterial spin labelling), Brachial Plexus Imaging.
DEXA or BMD unit helps diagnose osteoporosis and its response to treatment. Whole body fat quantification can be performed.
Our highly skilled Doctors undertake various diagnostic & therapeutic procedures – Image guided FNAC, Tru-cut Biopsies, Bone Biopsies, drainage procedures and pigtail insertions. USG guided hook-wire & radio-marker placements are performed for tumours; especially in the breast.
Interventional Radiologists are available for various diagnostic & therapeutic procedures; like DSA studies, peripheral plasties & stenting, Carotid stenting, Fibroid, Bronchial artery & GI bleed embolisations, Intra-cranial aneurysm & AVM coiling / embolization, PTBD with stenting, PCN with stenting, TIPSS / DIPS, chemo-embolisation of HCC, varicose vein ablation, IVC filter placements.
