Overview
The Department of Critical Care Medicine at our hospital provides round-the-clock, evidence-based care for patients with life-threatening illnesses.
Equipped with X intensive care beds, the department includes dedicated isolation units for patients with infectious conditions and those requiring protective care. On average, the ICU treats approximately X patients annually.

Patient and Family Support Facilities
Understanding the importance of family presence, the department offers a designated waiting area for relatives, with resting space, washrooms, and access to meals and refreshments in the adjoining lobby.
Staffing and Multidisciplinary Care
The ICU is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals led by the Director of Critical Care Medicine, comprising:
• Senior and junior intensivists (Consultants, Associate Consultants, Resident doctors)
• Trained critical care nurses
• Physiotherapists, dieticians, respiratory therapists, and technicians
• Psychological counsellors and support staff
A nurse-to-patient ratio of X is maintained, with Head Nurses supervising day shifts to ensure care quality and operational efficiency.
The team collaborates closely with referring physicians and specialists from other departments to develop and execute individualized care plans.
Infrastructure and Technology
The department is structured into distinct critical care units, each designed to cater to specific patient needs:
• Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
• High Dependency Unit (HDU)
These units are located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the hospital, ensuring optimal accessibility for emergency and post-operative cases.
Each bed is equipped with modern monitoring and life-support systems, including:
• Multiparameter monitors and ventilators
• Invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Dedicated point-of-care ultrasound and echocardiography machines
• Bronchoscope and airway management equipment
• SLEDD machines for renal support
