Paediatric Hematology
At Holy Spirit Hospital, we understand that children with blood disorders need more than just medical care—they need comfort, reassurance, and a healing environment tailored to their needs. Our dedicated Paediatric Hematology unit offers comprehensive, child-friendly services in a warm and caring setting designed to put young patients at ease.
We are equipped with specialized facilities, including sedation for day-care procedures like bone marrow aspiration, biopsy, and lumbar puncture. To minimize discomfort, we use a vein viewer for quick and accurate vein access, helping to avoid multiple pricks. Children also have access to play areas where they can relax and engage in recreational activities during their hospital visits.
Our services are supported by a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, palliative care specialists, a pain management team, and social workers—ensuring holistic care for both the child and family.
Our Services Include:
Diagnosis and treatment of all types of anemia including iron deficiency, nutritional, and rare complex anemias
Comprehensive care for hemoglobinopathies such as transfusion and non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia and sickle cell disease
Management of bleeding disorders like Hemophilia and Von Willebrand Disease, with a focus on early intervention and prevention of long-term complications
Evaluation and care for bone marrow failure syndromes including Fanconi Anemia and Aplastic Anemia, along with counselling and guidance on bone marrow transplantation
Treatment of autoimmune conditions such as idiopathic thrombocytopenia and various neutropenias
At Holy Spirit Hospital, our goal is to offer compassionate, expert care that helps every child live a fuller, healthier life.
