About Us
Holy Spirit Hospital
Overview
Our Heritage
The Missionary Sisters, Servants of the Holy Spirit was founded in 1889 by St. Arnold Janssen, with the assistance of Sisters Maria Helena Stollenwerk and Josepha Hendrina Stenmanns. From its origins in Steyl, Holland, the Order has expanded to over 50 countries, with around 3,200 Sisters of 47 nationalities forming a global network of over 425 communities.
In 1933, the first group of four Sisters arrived in India, and by 1964,  established a dispensary in Mumbai, addressing the dire health needs of the local population. This humble beginning led to the founding of Holy Spirit Hospital in 1967,under Sr. Carmelann Mckee as first Administrator, initially as a 65-bed facility.
