Holy Spirit Hospital reached a historic milestone with the inauguration and blessing of its much-awaited Transplant Unit on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The event was held in Room No. 105 (First Floor) and was graced by key dignitaries, doctors, religious leaders, and hospital staff who gathered to celebrate this significant advancement in the hospital’s clinical capabilities.
The ceremony commenced with a brief introduction by Dr. Susan Sodder, who shared insights into the vision and planning that led to the creation of the Transplant Unit. The tone of the event was set with a blessing ceremony and prayer conducted by Fr. Thomas and his team, invoking divine grace upon the unit, its staff, and future patients.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration by Dr. Mahendra Khandade, Medical Officer of Health (MOH), BMC, K-East Ward, who officially opened the Transplant Unit with a ribbon cutting. In his remarks, Dr. Khandade appreciated the hospital’s commitment to expanding critical care infrastructure and praised the initiative as a major step toward improving access to life-saving transplant procedures.
Fr. Thomas further blessed the unit with Holy Water, symbolizing spiritual healing and protection, while Sr. Vasanti’s special song performance added a moving and heartfelt touch to the ceremony. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Sr. Lissy Devassy, who acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in making the Transplant Unit a reality—from planning to execution.
