Interventional Radiology
Overview
Interventional Radiology (IR) is a cutting-edge, minimally invasive medical specialty that uses real-time imaging guidance (like fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI) to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. It serves as a bridge between diagnostic radiology and surgery, offering patients quicker recovery, reduced risk, and less pain. Interventional radiologists perform image-guided procedures through small incisions, making IR a critical component in multidisciplinary patient care, especially in oncology, neurology, nephrology, and vascular medicine.
Services
Vascular Interventions
Angioplasty & Stenting – for peripheral arterial disease
Embolization Procedures – to control bleeding (e.g., GI bleeds, postpartum hemorrhage)

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Management – thrombolysis, IVC filter placement
Oncology Interventions
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) – for liver tumors
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) & Microwave Ablation (MWA) – for liver, lung, kidney tumors
Image-guided Biopsies – CT/US-guided tumor sampling
Palliative Procedures – biliary drainage, gastrostomy tube placement
Neurovascular Interventions
